Hi there!
I hope you’re doing well. I used to begin these with something about the weather, but it feels a little silly to do it now. Not that there’s anything wrong with being silly. Silly away... you.
It’s been a while since I updated you on what’s going on with The Last Day of Rain, and that’s because nothing much is. I think about it every day, but I’m usually so tired at the end of the day that I can only go to bed. I’m happy though, and I don’t mind it that much?
I still managed to draw some storyboards since last time, but it’s not a lot to look at. Here’s a page, with no dialogue, because it’s too early to show you that! In this page, Art tries to play the puppy eyes card on Carol, but it’s not working because he’s taller than her.
(And yeah, Carol’s hair is down for the rest of the story! I can’t be bothered to draw that complicated undercut anymore!)
The storyboarding part is often the most fun part to me, because that’s where all the energy of the story lives. When I’m done with this last chapter, I think my future art will look a bit simpler, closer to the initial sketches. I also don’t really have time for anything else these days.
I started this article with the intention of writing an essay about how the onset of “artificial intelligence” tools, especially in my day job, is making everything feel like nonsense. But does the internet need more articles on that? Instead, I’ll leave you with this short update and a rough storyboard drawn by a wrist in pain from holding a growing baby.
See you in the next newsletter!
